Knolls Day 2..Issues With Mud.

Dang shouldn'ta done that. We decided to ride out across a mud flat to do the race loop. We got about 500 yards out and realized it was kind of squishy. Luckily, I stopped and signaled Shelly to turn back and she was smart enough to keep the hammer down even though mud was flying and covering her and Hannah. She made it back to "shore", but Owen and Brayden were starting to have some real problems. I turned Owen around and got him started..told him to pin it until he hit dry ground, he did and somehow stayed on 2 wheels till he made it back. The real problems started with Brayden. For some reason his bike with him on it with those size tires were just heavy enough..combined with the new disc brake that kept clogging with mud, and the additional weight and drag of all that mud that he could not get going. We spent the next 2 hours caked in mud..cleaning the mud out of wheels, followed by me pushing and running with the bike through the mud till I was either too exhausted or the bike got too clogged again. This pic really doesn't do it justice. Shelly even fell down and broke Brayd's front fender. Everything was covered but my bike which sat until I got back to it and rode it out with ease..it just had enough power and tire to get going fast and cruise on top..guess that's why i didn't realize we were in trouble till it was too late. It was quite an afternoon and were happy to be back in our warm trailer...ready for another day of riding, without the MUD!! Not a good way to break in a new bike for Brayden.
